In order to prevent guests from accidentally or maliciously changing the printer settings, the Badge Printing Kiosk app requires a separate computer connected to the badge printer to run the Badge Print Manager app. The Badge Print Manager app watches for print commands from attached kiosks and sends them to the correct printer for guests to collect their badges.
Configure the Badge Print Manager
Step 1: Gather Required Hardware
You will need a badge printer as well as a computer connected to it present at the event. Each badge printer can handle multiple kiosks, but keep in mind that the more kiosks served by a single printer, the higher the likelihood of multiple customers trying to print at the same time.
Step 2: Connect a Computer to the Badge Printer
Follow the printer manufacturer's instructions to install any required software and make sure the printer is working.
Step 3: Enable Kiosk-Printing in Your Browser
Kiosk printing is an optional setting available in both Firefox and Google Chrome on both Windows and Mac. Please refer to our browser kiosk-printing guide for full instructions.
Step 4: Configure Badge Print Manager App
Open the Badge Print Manager app in the browser. You will be prompted to either create a new printer or select from a previously created printer if you have previously created one.
Give each computer/printer pair a unique name because you will need to reference it in Badge Printing Kiosk app.
Step 5: Start the Print Monitor
Click the Save button to save the printer name and begin the print monitor. This computer will now watch for new print requests from attached kiosks and automatically send those commands to the connected printer.
Configure the Badge Printing Kiosks
Step 1: Attach the Badge Printing Kiosk to a Badge Print Manager
In the Settings page of the Badge Printing Kiosk, make sure the selected mode is Guest, not Volunteer. Volunteer mode grants access to additional features that guests attending your event should not have access to.
After ensuring the mode is correct, you will find a field named Select badge printer. Click this dropdown menu and select the printer you created in the steps above.
Set the additional field values as you desire, then click the Save button.
This device is now ready for guests to find and print their badges.
